Great Job Milt!!! Another succeessful reunion in Pennsylvania in 2011 and on to Reno in 2012.
In Closing from Harrisburg!

Yes, we had a GREAT Reunion at the Holiday Inn inGrantville, PA. I would like to thank the Staff of the Holiday Inn, namely Donna and Afton for taking GOOD
care of US. I want to thank ALL My Wonderful Volunteers who made this Reunion a success; namely, Mary Calder, Eileen Goodrich, Willa Nichols, Shelia McCann,
Bob Castle, Andy Goodrich, Roger Smith, Al Tarlecki, Judy Presley, and Hubert Presley. We started with a Tour to Adams County Winery, the Lancaster Tour
going to the Amish Farms, the GREAT noon meal at Hershey Farm Restaurant, the food was GREAT, just ask anyone that was on that tour. It was a very rainy day
during the tour to Gettysburg but the evening meal at Dobbins Restaurant was fantastic! When we got back to the Holiday Inn, Larry Sherman gave us an exciting
evening of Karaoke. On Saturday, the banquet food was VERY Good and the DJ, Johnny Burgos, had the Members dancing until well after 10 PM.
Just a final note, two hundred fourteen registered with 208 showing up for the Banquet. We had 111 members, 2 widows, and 101 spouses & guests. We also had 23 first
time attendees. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE WHO SENT ME EMAILS to thank me. On to Reno in 2012 and Atlanta 2013!
Milt Kessler, Jr.

Tours:
Historic Virginia City and Train Ride – 6 Hours

Depart from your hotel at 10:00am and travel via chartered motorcoach to historic Virginia City.  Your professional step-on guide will tell you all about the history, geology and characters of the area as you ride along.  Upon arrival, enjoy a brief driving tour followed by 2½ hours in this former gold and silver rush town to explore and sightsee.  Walk along the wooden sidewalks of yesteryear as you browse through the saloons, museums, casinos and gift shops.  This is a great place to pick up that unique souvenir of your trip.  Virginia City has so much history and you will have plenty of time to explore and experience the town.  Have lunch on your own before boarding the historic V & T Railroad for a round trip excursion to Gold Hill.  And…. watch your personal possessions in case you run into a band of ornery bandits.  After your ride enjoy a guided tour of the famous Pipers Opera House.  This theater was the “place to be” during this silver town’s heyday.  Return to Reno in the late afternoon.

Price per person: $43.00

Upon arrival, see the many sights of the “Biggest Little City in the World”.  Highlights include Millionaires Row, the UNR Campus, a drive under both the old and new Reno Arch, the Riverwalk and Kayak Adventure, the new Aces Baseball stadium and more.  Next, pay a visit to the renowned National Automobile Museum.  This museum was built in honor of the machines that have touched us all.  Have plenty of time to browse through the period streets that display the cars in this vast collection.   You don’t have to be a car buff to enjoy this museum!   Your day also includes a hosted buffet lunch at the Grand Sierra Resort.  There will be something for everyone here with reserved group seating.  Return to your hotel at 3:30pm.

RENO HERE WE COME!!
Bob Peterson (Chitose ‘62 – ‘64) is promoting a good gathering of the Trick 2 guys from circa ’61 – ’64. Instead of a 2012 mini-reunion, we are trying to get as many couples from that era to attend. As of this writing
we tentatively have about 10 couples committed. And, we are hoping for more. Roy Gettz and our reunion hosts are always accommodating our mini-groups during the reunion, i.e., sit together during the banquet, and tours.
So, we look forward to a great time in Reno, and hope we go home with more money than we came with

2013 ASA Chitose Reunion

The 2013 Chitose Reunion will be held in Atlanta, GA by Bill and Teresa Croker from Sept 18-22.  We are in negotiation with the Wyndam Garden Inn located near the airport.   Free shuttle services are available to and from the hotel. Atlanta has a lot to offer in things to do.  The Underground, Coke Museum, the Aquarium  and the Margaret Mitchell house are located downtown.  Stone Mountain is a wonderful park with many things to do.  If the Braves are in town and if there is enough interest in seeing a baseball game, we can try to arrange an outing.  Also, in the works is a golf outing. We look forward to seeing everyone in Atlanta and showing you Southern Hospitality.

Around ASA /By Roy Gettz

1.  October 11, 2011 FASAF REUNION- We are anticipating close to 200 attendees ( quite a few from Chitose) for this event and we have requirements for over 80 rooms, and 75 rooms blocked with only 20 reservations. The hotel will not increase our block until we have more reservations and if we wait too long rooms might not be available. If you are planning on attending and have not made reservations please do so as soon as possible. Planning is well under way to hold the event from Monday, March 19, 2012 to Wednesday, March 21, 2012. We’re trying this (on a trial basis) at an earlier date than usual in an attempt to make it available to a larger number of ASA vets. We’ve noted in the past that a significant number of Florida snowbirds head north before our usual May gatherings. We’ve also found that the May date creates a conflict when “grampa” and “gramma” have a high school or college graduation on their calendar that takes priority. The Crown Plaza Hotel has been selected as the headquarters. The hotel offers deluxe beachfront accommodations at $94.00 per night. This is a great rate for an oceanfront hotel at this time of the year and the rate is also good for 2 days prior to and 2 days following the reunion. The hotel offers free transportation to and from Melbourne International Airport. Melbourne is served by Delta and US Air through Atlanta and Charlotte, respectively. Further details are still be worked out, but those interested are asked to contact Roy Gettz at 3091 Blackbird Court, Melbourne, FL 32935; telephone (321)-259-7039; e-mail:
asachitoseassn@att.net. We will be glad to add your name to the mailing list. Please keep in mind that while FASAF is a Florida based group and annual reunions are usually held somewhere within Florida, all former ASAers are welcome and encouraged to attend this annual event. Johnson 703-499-9049
